Facial peels have become extremely popular lately because of their ability to transform the appearance of the skin without surgery. Some forms of peels can even be performed over your lunch break, allowing you to return to work or your routine immediately. The specific type of peel that you need depends upon factors like your current skin condition, age, lifestyle, and other factors.
Facial Peels for Skin Transformation
A facial peel is a type of chemical solution we formulate for your specific needs and goals. Each peel consists of some type of chemical that helps to peel away portions of the outer skin layer to reveal new skin and encourage the formation of fresh skin cells. The type of a given peel is classified by its ingredients, strength of concentration, and depth of reach.
Light Peels
If your skin complaints are minor in nature, a light peel is probably your best bet. This type of peel is used in cases of light wrinkles, superficial acne scars, and/or dull skin tone. It utilizes mild acids like lactic or glycolic acid to gently exfoliate the surface of your skin and brighten your complexion.
Medium Peels
Medium facial peels are somewhat stronger than superficial ones and work to exfoliate portions of the epidermis and encourage the production of new skin tissue. Medium peels are typically used to treat light lines and wrinkles, light scars, and skin blemishes.
Deep Peels
A deep facial peel is only for the most serious skin conditions such as deep acne scars, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, and deep lines and wrinkles. We apply a chemical solution containing stronger solutions like phenol or carbolic acid to remove both the epidermis and some of the lower dermis skin layers. The deep peel offers dramatic results in the improvement of serious signs of sun damage and aging.
What to Expect
Although each type of facial peel is somewhat different in its application, there are some common aspects to the treatment. We apply your peel in our office or facility, which is only performed by a trained practitioner. After determining your skin type and skin conditions, we apply your peel accordingly.
